BCG Inter-School Music Competition

Insight BCG organized 'Consonance', a music competition. It was conducted at Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Vidyalaya (Malad).

The competition had the following categories:

1. Solo singing (English and Hindi): Participants in this category had to sing a song that best described them as a person.

2. Duet singing (English and Hindi): Participants in this category had to sing a song that represented hope. The theme included aspects like dreams, inspiration, wishes / desire, looking forward, never giving up, expectations.

3. Quartet singing (English and Hindi): Participants in this category had to sing acapella (singing without accompanying music). They had to pay tribute to an artist from the music industry of their choice. They had to sing a medley of minimum 3 songs related to the chosen artist.

4. Group Singing: Participants had to compose music to a poem selected by them (from a set of poems given in both Hindi and English) and present this composition. The poems were winning entries from past poetry writing compeitions for educators (UniqVerse).

Judges:

The 3 judges for the event were Ashwini Kamath, Thomson Andrews and Danielle Rebello.

Ashwini Kamath: Ashwini Kamath, also familiar as Ashwini Narayangaonkar, is a professional singer, musician, and a corporate training consultant. She conducts  workshops and interactive sessions for corporate companies, NGOs and educational  institutions, with  the  basic  objective  to  develop  an  interest  in  music  and  create  an  awareness  about  our  heritage  while  simultaneously  extending  the  benefits  of  music  therapy. She has performed in India and abroad and is also an AASTHA CHANNEL artiste. With  Hindi and Marathi  patriotic  and  devotional  music  albums  to  her  credit,  Ashwini  is also an integral part of Deepak Music Academy, which her parents established over 35 years ago, imparting  knowledge  and  honing  talents  across  different  age  groups, cultural  and  professional  backgrounds.

Thomson Andrews, is a Bollywood playback singer, songwriter and recording artist. Thomson started his career with Maestro A.R. Rahman in 2010 and since then has sung on numerous Hollywood and Bollywood projects. He has several Hindi, Tamil and Telugu film songs to his credit along with having sung over 40 Ad- Jingles in more than 10 languages for global brands. Thomson is known for his unique Funk, RnB, Soul voice in the industry, and currently co-sings and performs with Sunidhi Chauhan. He has also worked and shared the stage with Shankar Ehssan Loy, Salim Sulieman, Pritam, Amit Trivedi and other eminent composers. He is currently working on his upcoming singles with Grammy Award winning producers from Los Angeles and is also a member of the renowned acapella ensemble RAAGA TRIPPIN.

Danielle Rebello. Danielle is currently a part of Desi Swagg, a versatile band that travels around the world. She lent her voice for the Close Up jingle that's currently running on air and has now lent her original English song for a Marathi movie.  She won the Gold medal for best vocalist at the national and state level on representing Mumbai University in 2002. She later trained students to represent the state and win at national and state level competitions. She was one of the five girls featured in the reality show “The Sunsilk Gang of Girls”. She was also part of the “Oye it’s Friday” talk show hosted by Farhan Akhtar on NDTV Imagine.
